Assistant CE
No CE requirement for basic dental assistants. Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) permit renewal requires CE tied to the permit (commonly cited as ~16 hours per cycle, with BLS counting toward it) — confirm exact figure with the board.
Biennial (2-year) cycle; reporting deadline Dec 31 of renewal year. Dentists: of the 50 hrs, at least 40 must relate to patient treatment/health/safety. Hygienists: of the 30 hrs, at least 25 must be patient-care-related. Current BLS/ACLS (or equivalent) certification required to renew. Carry-forward allowed (max 25 hrs dentist / 15 hrs hygienist). Rule 20 CSR 2110-2.240 does NOT mandate specific topic hours for infection control, jurisprudence, or opioids (beyond the BLS certification requirement). Rule sets no explicit live-vs-self-study cap.
