No general CE-hours requirement (CT does not license dental assistants broadly); dental assistants performing radiography must hold DANB radiation-safety certification, but no board-published biennial CE-hour total
2-year (24-month) cycle; 1 contact hour = 50 minutes. DENTISTS (25 hrs): must include at least 1 contact hour in each of (A) any three of ten Commissioner-designated topics, (B) infection control in a dental setting, and (C) prescribing controlled substances and pain management. Ten mandatory-topic menu: controlled substances/pain mgmt; recordkeeping/risk mgmt; infection control; access to care; HIPAA; medical emergencies incl. CPR; sexual assault/domestic abuse; cultural competence; veteran mental health; diagnostic technology. HYGIENISTS (16 hrs): must include 1 hour infection control and 1 hour cultural competency. LIVE/SELF-STUDY: internet/distance learning accepted; no explicit live-vs-self-study cap found. Up to 10 hours may be earned via volunteer dental practice (8 hrs volunteer = 1 CE hour).
