Renewal cycle & mandatory topics
2-year reporting period (current: Jul 1, 2025 – Jun 30, 2027); hours do not roll over. CE reported via CE Broker (began Jul 1, 2025). MANDATORY for dentists & hygienists: an ethics course every 2 years, and a LIVE, in-person, hands-on CPR/BLS course every 2 years (full-online CPR is NOT accepted regardless of provider — the hands-on compression component is required). Dentists must also complete 2 hours of opioid/controlled-substance education. LIVE-vs-SELF-STUDY caps: dentists may take a MAX of 20 of the 40 hours online; hygienists a MAX of 10 of the 20 hours online (i.e., at least half must be live/in-person). Non-compliance penalty: $1,000 fine (dentist) / $500 (hygienist) plus make-up of the shortage. Category tracking no longer required when reporting.
