Maryland dental license renewal CE requirements

For dental license renewal in Maryland, dentists need 30 hours / 2 years and dental hygienists need 30 hours / 2 years. Dental assistants: No general dental-assistant CE license. Maryland instead certifies Dental Radiation Technologists, who need a 2-hour infection control course each renewal (plus one-time implicit bias). Dentists & hygienists: 30 hrs. Mandatory each cycle: 2-hr infection control course; must maintain CPR/BLS certification without lapse (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or ARC Professional Rescuer — online CPR NOT accepted; CPR earns NO CE credit). Every OTHER cycle: 2-hr 'Abuse and Neglect as it Relates to Maryland Law' (dentists AND hygienists) and 2-hr 'Proper Prescribing and Disposal of Prescription Drugs' (dentists ONLY; optional for hygienists). One-time implicit bias training required before first renewal/reinstatement on/after Apr 1, 2022. Self-study cap: up to 17 of the 30 hrs.
