In South Carolina, dentists need 28 hours / 2 years (14 hours/year); dental hygienists need 14 hours / 2 years (7 hours/year); dental assistants: No registered 'dental assistant' CE requirement. SC registers 'dental technicians': 8 hours / 2 years (4 hours/year). No state CE requirement for chairside dental assistants.. Biennial renewal cycle; licenses renew by March 1 of odd-numbered years.
