# INBDE Retake Calculator: Your Earliest Retest Date

A free, no-signup calculator that computes a failed candidate's earliest eligible retest date under the JCNDE's published retesting rules, plus the full fees due with the next application. It computes eligibility under the rules as printed; the JCNDE's own determination of a candidate's eligibility controls.

## The published rules it applies (2026 INBDE Candidate Guide, updated 08/04/2026, printed p. 21 and p. 26)

- Minimum **60 days** between each unsuccessful attempt, with a maximum of **four administrations in any one-year period**.
- After four administrations in a 12-month period, a fifth attempt is possible only after **12 months from the first attempt in that window**. Not subject to appeal.
- **5 Years/5 Attempts Eligibility Rule:** candidates must pass within five years of their first attempt or five attempts, whichever comes first. Past that limit, candidates may test **once every six (6) months** after their most recent attempt. Not subject to appeal.
- **"A new application and fee must be submitted before each testing attempt"** (p. 26): the 2026 examination fee is $890, plus a $435 processing fee for candidates from non-CODA-accredited programs — $1,325 per attempt for most internationally trained candidates.
- After processing, eligibility lasts **six months**, and retest rules can shorten it — so an eligibility date is not a seat: candidates still need a processed application and an open Prometric appointment.

## Edition note

The post-limit cadence changed between guide editions: the 2025 Candidate Guide (updated 12/11/2024) said once every **12 months**; the 2026 Candidate Guide (updated 08/04/2026) says once every **6 months**. Pages still citing 12 months are quoting the superseded edition.

## How it calculates

Inputs: the date of the most recent attempt (or the result date, computed conservatively), attempts in the past 12 months, total attempts ever, the first-attempt date where the 4-per-year or 5-year checks need it, and CODA vs non-CODA status for the fee math. Inputs are encoded in the page URL so a computed result can be copied and shared as a link. Outputs: the earliest eligible retest date under the governing rule branch, the prep runway from today, and the itemized per-attempt fees.
