# Taking the INBDE from India: Where You Can Sit It, What It Costs, and the Timeline

**There are no INBDE exam centers in India.** JCNDE offers the exam only at Prometric test centers in the U.S., its territories, and Canada ("Offered at Prometric Test Centers in the U.S. and its territories and Canada" — jcnde.ada.org/inbde; the 2026 Candidate Guide, updated 08/04/2026, p. 2: "This examination is administered by Prometric… in the United States and Canada"). There is no remote option, and the exam is no longer offered in the province of Quebec, Canada. Every candidate in India therefore plans a U.S. or Canada trip; Day 2 must occur within 7 days of Day 1 at the same center, so one trip covers both days.

## Eligibility with an Indian BDS (graduate path)

1. Obtain a free DENTPIN (ADA.org/DENTPIN) before applying.
2. Have the BDS degree confirmed through Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) — the only evaluator JCNDE names. The U.S. General Report ($110) is sufficient for exam eligibility; the U.S. Course-by-Course Report ($199) also satisfies JCNDE and is the one most advanced-standing programs require.
3. **A graduated BDS holder does not file the Certification of Eligibility Form.** That form applies only to current students at non-CODA programs and is completed by the program. The name on the ECE report must exactly match the DENTPIN.

## 2026 fees (U.S. dollars, per the current Candidate Guide fee table)

| Item | Fee |
| --- | ---: |
| DENTPIN | $0 |
| ECE U.S. General Report | $110 |
| ECE U.S. Course-by-Course Report (if a program requires it) | $199 |
| INBDE examination fee | $890 |
| Non-CODA processing fee | $435 |
| **Total per attempt** | **$1,325** |

Eligibility lasts 6 months from application processing; untested candidates forfeit the fee and reapply at full price. One Eligibility Extension Request (45 days, $150, once per application) exists. An INBDE + DLOSCE bundle is listed at $1,080. There is no official rupee figure — JCNDE bills in USD, so the INR cost depends on the exchange rate on payment day. ## The visa question — official vs. community-reported

Official, from primary sources: the DS-160 is the online nonimmigrant visa application (CEAC); the B1/B2 visitor-visa application (MRV) fee is $185; a no-fee expedited/emergency appointment request process exists at consular posts; and Federal Register rule 2026-11513 created a $750 expedited B1/B2 interview-appointment fee effective 07/01/2026 through 12/31/2026 — offered only at selected posts published on travel.state.gov, in limited quantities, on top of the $185 fee. No official source reviewed for this page places any post in India in that pilot; check the current travel.state.gov list.

Community-reported (label preserved deliberately — confirm with the embassy): candidates commonly report traveling on a B1/B2 visitor visa to sit the exam, and commonly report attaching the JCNDE/Prometric confirmation to expedite requests. Neither is published State Department policy. Interview wait times vary widely; no figure is quoted here.

## Timing against the Indian calendar

Work backwards from the governing deadline (usually an ADEA CAAPID cycle): results arrive up to 4 weeks after the exam; exam dates sit 60–90 days after Prometric booking; the application starts the 6-month window; the ECE report must exist before the application completes; the visa process runs in parallel and is the least predictable clock. A retake means a 60-day minimum wait and a fresh $1,325.
