## Renewal cycle and mandatory topics

Biennial cycle (Board Reg. 41 / 30 Miss. Admin. Code Pt. 2301 R. 1.41). Dentists: 40 hrs, cycle Jan 1 of even year–Dec 31 of odd year. Hygienists: 20 hrs, cycle Jan 1 of odd year–Dec 31 of even year. Opioid: dentists who prescribe/administer/dispense controlled substances (or propose to) must complete 3 hrs opioid-prescribing CDE each cycle. CPR/BLS: all active dentists & hygienists must maintain current CPR certification (Board Reg. 45); CPR certification hours count toward CE but are capped — CPR max 8 hrs, ACLS 16 hrs, PALS 16 hrs per cycle. First renewal period is exempt. Delivery: in-person or non-in-person (virtual/correspondence) allowed, but non-in-person CDE must include a post-study examination; per the Board CE FAQ, a max of 25% of required hours may be computer-based/video/audio/reading/correspondence home-study. Reg. 41 does NOT itemize a separate mandatory infection-control or ethics course (jurisprudence exam is required only for inactive-to-active or reinstatement). Records kept 3 years.
